INTRODUCTION:

For Catholics who read this, please remember this: the person that tells you the truth is the one that really cares.

Practically all precepts of the Roman Catholic "Church" contradict the Bible. This will be demonstrated later in the text of this article.

The atrocities committed by the Roman Catholicism are numerous. During the Inquisition and the Crusades, the Roman Catholic "Church" murdered millions primarily to crush opposition to the pope. Catholic Inquisitors imprisoned, tortured, crippled, and burned millions of people.

"Baptismal regeneration" and "infant baptism"... have, according to the testimony of well-established history, caused the shedding of more Christian blood, as the centuries have gone by, than all other errors combined. ... Over 50,000,000 Christians died martyr deaths, mainly because of their rejection of these two errors during the period of the "dark ages" alone--about twelve or thirteen centuries. ... If 50,000,000 died of persecution during the 1,200 years of what are called the "Dark Ages," as history seems positively to teach--then they died faster than an average of four million every one hundred years. That seems almost beyond the limit of, human conception. (The Trail of Blood by J. M. Carroll)

This fact in it's self is evidence enough to prove that the Roman Catholic "Church" is not Christian. The Bible says, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds)." (2 Cor. 10:3-4). Christians "wrestle not against flesh and blood" and our only offensive weapon is "the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God" (Eph. 6:12, 17). Christians persuade folks to salvation not with fire and torture, but through reasoning with them out of the Word of God. In Matthew 20:25-28 the Lord Jesus said, "... Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."

Popes do not do this Biblical principal, nor has Romanism ever given a satisfactory apology for the gross atrocities committed in the name of the Pope. The Roman Catholic "Church" is the most murderous and bloodthirsty organization that has ever existed. It's wrath is especially focused toward those who believe and obey the Word of God.

The Roman Catholic Church has never been the true church. It began (313 AD) almost 300 years to late to be the true church of Jesus Christ. It started with the Roman Emperor Constintine who saw a vision and "converted" to "Christendom". He had his army run through a river and declared that baptism and them Christians, married his new church with the state, brought in idolatry, persecuted the real Christians and believed in baptismal regeneration. Romanism has been corrupt from it's inception.

There are at least four major reasons that we know that the Roman Catholic Church is not Christ's Church:

1. Wrong doctrinal teachings.

2. Wrong origin.

3. Wrong methods of gaining converts.

4. It is identified in Scripture and an imposter.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:

"And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satanís seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth." (Revelation 2:12-13)

The office and title of the Roman Pontifix Maximus is not Christian at all, but rather has Babylonian roots. It was inherited by the Roman Empire at the death of Attalus III, King of Pergamos, 445 years before Constintine came to power. Attalus had inherited the title from the Babylonian priesthood who fled Babylon when "Darius the Median took the kingdom" of Babylon in the days of Daniel (Daniel 5:31). Alexander Hislop gives the history of it. He writes:

"The true legitimate Babylonian Pontiff had his seat beyond the bounds of the Roman empire. That seat, after the death of Belshazzar, and the expulsion of the Chaldean priesthood from Babylon by the Medo-Persian kings, was at Pergamos, where afterwards was one of the seven churches of Asia. There, in consequence, for many centuries was "Satan's seat" (Rev 2:13). There, under favour of the deified kings of Pergamos, was his favourite abode, there was the worship of Aesculapius, under the form of the serpent, celebrated with frantic orgies and excesses, that elsewhere were kept under some measure of restraint. At first, the Roman Pontiff had no immediate connection with Pergamos and the hierarchy there; yet, in course of time, the Pontificate of Rome and the Pontificate of Pergamos came to be identified. Pergamos itself became part and parcel of the Roman empire, when Attalus III, the last of its kings, at his death, left by will all his dominions to the Roman people, BC 133. For some time after the kingdom of Pergamos was merged in the Roman dominions, there was no one who could set himself openly and advisedly to lay claim to all the dignity inherent in the old title of the kings of Pergamos. The original powers even of the Roman Pontiffs seem to have been by that time abridged, but when Julius Caesar (BC 46), who had previously been elected Pontifex Maximus, became also, as Emperor, the supreme civil ruler of the Romans, then, as head of the Roman state, and head of the Roman religion, all the powers and functions of the true legitimate Babylonian Pontiff were supremely vested in him, and he found himself in a position to assert these powers. Then he seems to have laid claim to the divine dignity of Attalus, as well as the kingdom that Attalus had bequeathed to the Romans, as centering in himself; for his well-known watchword, "Venus Genetrix," which meant that Venus was the mother of the Julian race, appears to have been intended to make him "The Son" of the great goddess, even as the "Bull-horned" Attalus had been regarded. Then on certain occasions, in the exercise of his high pontifical office, he appeared of course in all the pomp of the Babylonian costume, as Belshazzar himself might have done, in robes of scarlet, with the crosier of Nimrod in his hand, wearing the mitre of Dagon and bearing the keys of Janus and Cybele." (Hislop, The Two Babylons, pp. 240, 241)

"Here, then, in Rome was Teitan, or Satan, identified with the "serpent that taught mankind," that opened their eyes (when, of course, they were blind), and gave them "the knowledge of good and evil." In Pergamos, and in all Asia Minor, from which directly Rome derived its knowledge of the Mysteries, the case was the same. In Pergamos, especially, where pre-eminently "Satan's seat was," the sun-divinity, as is well known, was worshipped under the form of a serpent and under the name of Aesculapius, "the man-instructing serpent." According to the fundamental doctrine of the Mysteries, as brought from Pergamos to Rome, the sun was the one only god. Teitan, or Satan, then, was thus recognised as the one only god; and of that only god, Tammuz or Janus, in his character as the Son, or the woman's seed, was just an incarnation. Here, then, the grand secret of the Roman Empire is at last brought to light--viz., the real name of the tutelar divinity of Rome. That secret was most jealously guarded..." (Hislop, The Two Babylons, p. 279)

"How comes it that this system, of all others, can so prevail as to get that physical force to obey its behests? No answer can be given but this, that Satan, the god of this world, exerts his highest power in its behalf. Physical force has not always been on the side of the Chaldean worship of the Queen of Heaven. Again and again has power been arrayed against it; but hitherto every obstacle it has surmounted, every difficulty it has overcome. Cyrus, Xerxes, and many of the Medo-Persian kings, banished its priests from Babylon, and laboured to root it out of their empire; but then it found a secure retreat in Pergamos, and "Satan's seat" was erected there. The glory of Pergamos and the cities of Asia Minor departed; but the worship of the Queen of Heaven did not wane. It took a higher flight, and seated itself on the throne of Imperial Rome. That throne was subverted. The Arian Goths came burning with fury against the worshippers of the Virgin Queen; but still that worship rose buoyant above all attempts to put it down, and the Arian Goths themselves were soon prostrate at the feet of the Babylonian goddess, seated in glory on the seven hills of Rome." (Hislop, The Two Babylons, p. 288)

This history lesson makes the already clear meaning of Revelation 2:12-17 and chapter 17 even clearer.

IDENTIFICATION OF ROMAN CATHOLICISM IN THE CHURCH AGE (PERGAMOS & THYATIRA):

THE CHURCHES OF PERGAMOS & THYATIRA INFILTRATED:

JESUS SPEAKS TO PERGAMOS (REVELATION 2:12-17):

"And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; 13 I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. 14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. 17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it."

JESUS SPEAKS TO THYATIRA (REVELATION 2:18-29):

"And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass; 19 I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last to be more than the first. 20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. 24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. 25 But that which ye have already hold fast till I come. 26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: 27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. 28 And I will give him the morning star. 29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches."

INTERPRETATION OF THE LORD'S MESSAGES TO THE CHURCHES IN PERGAMOS & THYATIRA (REVELATION 2:12-29):

The above passages were written to, Pergamos and Thyatira, two of the seven local churches in Asia. In Revelation Chapter One the glorified Lord Jesus appeared to the Apostle John with three kinds of symbolic objects. They were: "seven golden candlesticks" which symbolized the 7 churches of Asia (Rev. 1:20), "seven stars" which symbolized 7 angels or pastors of the churches (Rev. 1:20), and "a sharp twoedged sword" which is symbolic of the Word of God (Eph 6:17; Heb 4:12). The Lord Jesus also spoke to John of time in a symbolic way with these words: "Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter." (Rev. 1:19) The things which John had seen were the Lord Jesus, the candlesticks", "seven stars", and the "sharp twoedged sword". The phrases, "the things which are" and "the things which shall be hereafter" speak of the still present Church Age, and the future Tribulation Period, Millennial Reign of Christ, and Eternity. As for "the things which shall be hereafter" they will begin after "the things which are" (Revelation Chapters 2 and 3) in Revelation 4:1 at the Rapture of all Church Age believers where it says, "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter." Even though the above passages were written to the local churches at Pergamos and Thyatira, they also symbolically represent two of the seven periods of "the things which are" (Rev. 1:19), the Church Age.

Pergamos (Rev. 2:12-17) stands for the Period of Compromised (AD 313 to 590). The word Pergamos literally means "much" (per - Strong's Greek #4007, much, abundance) "marrage" (gamos - Strong's Greek #1062, marriage, wedding). Our English words polygamy and bigamy have their root in this Greek word. The symbolism is clear. It was during this period that Emperor Constantine (AD 306-337) of Rome married paganism and the state with some of the compromising churches, particularly the Church of Rome which had been corrupted by two pastors prior to his ascension to the throne.

Thyatira (Rev. 2:18-29) is symboliic of the Period of the Papacy (AD 590-1517). The name is symbolic for 1) "an oppressive woman which is the way the Bible depicts Catholicism (cf. Rev. 17:1-6), 2) "a continual sacrifice" which is what the Catholic Mass / Eucharist is, and 3) "odour of affliction" which is what Catholicism is to the saved. The meaning of the word Thyatira is as follows:
1. J. A. Seiss: ďIf we take it as a compound of θυγατης [thygatēs] and τειρω [teirō], we get the idea of feminine oppression.Ē (Seiss, J. A., The Apocalypse: Lectures on the Book of Revelation, Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 1966, p. 71.)
2. Henry Ironside: "Scholars tell us that it comes from two words, one meaning a sacrifice, or an incense-offering; the other, that which goes on continually. A suggested interpretation, therefore, is 'continual sacrifice.'" (Ironside, Henry Allen, Revelation: An Ironside Expository Commentary, Originally published 1920, Kregel, Grand Rapids, Mi., Reprinted 2004)

These two periods prophetically represent Catholicism in history.

The Lord Jesus warned the churches of Pergamos and Thyatira, and all mixed up in Catholicism, "I have a few things against thee" (Rev. 2:14, 20). Note the symbolic language that perfectly symbolizes Catholicism:

1. "... thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication." (Rev. 2:14)

This refers to a fascinating story from the Old Testament book of Numbers (chapters 22 through 24) where the prophet Balaam was hired by Balak, king of the Moabites, to curse Israel. Balaam tried repeatedly, but God would not allow him to utter a curse against His people. However, he advised Balak to encourage the Israelites to "... commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled ..." (Num. 25:1-3, cf. 31:15-16). "They joined themselves ... unto Baalpeor, and ate the sacrifices of the dead." (Psalm 106:28) Thus Israel was corrupted from within. This, of course, is exactly what happened to the church during the Period of Compromise. Corruption flooded in through Constantine's marriage of Paganism with Christendom.

Roman Catholicism, therefore, is the product of compromise as related by Revelation 2:14:

        A. She is the result of spiritual fornication like that committed at Peor, an unholy mixture of Biblical things with idolatry and false doctrines.

        B. The Catholic Eucharist is the eating of "the sacrifices of the dead." (Psalm 106:28)

The Word of God on the other hand teaches concerning:

        A. Separation from Unbelievers in Matters of Faith & Spirituality:

2 Corinthians 6:14-18: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty."

        B. The Lord's Supper.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26: "For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lordís death till he come." The Lord's Supper is a Memorial of what Jesus Christ did for believers with no saving grace. It is not as Roman Catholicism affirms a sacrament necessary for salvation. The Bible repeatedly teaches what Ephesians 2:8-9 plainly states: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (cf. Titus 3:5-7; Galatians 2:16, 3:10; Romans 3:20, 26-28, 4:3-5; James 2:10; John 6:28-29; et. al.)

2. "So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate." (Revelation 2:15)

The word Nicolaitans is Greek meaning "conquerors of the people" (niko = victory + laos = the people). They are the false apostles mentioned earlier (Revelation 2:2, 6). The Nicolaitans sought to establish a hierarchy or ruling class over the rest of the people in the church. The church at Ephesus and the majority of believers of the Apostolic Period (AD 30 to 100) rejected Nicolatianism as unscriptural (Revelation 2:2, 6), but by the Compromised Period the movement to establish a hierarchy was well established in corrupted churches and further encouraged by Emperor Constantine. Today it is seen full blown in the Roman Catholic Church.

Roman Catholicism teaches:

        A. Apostolic succession of the Pope from Peter is claimed.

        B. The Pope is said to be able to speak with the same authority that Peter and the other apostles did.

        C. There is an extensive hierarchy of priests, bishops, archbishops, cardinals, and the Pope.

The Word of God on the other hand teaches:

        A. There has been a succession of local churches from apostolic times that will continue to the end of this present world who have observed all things whatsoever the Lord commanded:

Matthew 16:18, 28:19-20: "... I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. ... Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
1 Timothy 3:15: "... behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the Truth."
John 17:17: "... Thy Word is Truth."

        B. The Lord did not give authority to Peter alone, but to all the the disciples of the assembled local church:

John 20:19-23: "Then ... came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained." Here we see that the Lord is speaking to the disciples, the church, in the plural with the words "ye" and "you", and this text also uses the word "them" five times. This commission, authority and empowerment given to all the disciples to remitted or retained sins is, of course, to be done in accordance with whatsoever Jesus commanded, the Word of Truth.

        C. Peter, himself, did not consider himself a pope over any, or that he was higher than any other elder of the churches. He held to the priesthood of the believer. There is no hierarchy in the church, but that all disciples are equal.

1 Peter 2:5-10: "Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious [Jesus]: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, ... a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."
1 Peter 5:1-3: "The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over Godís heritage, but being ensamples to the flock."
1 Corinthians 12:13, 27: "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. ... Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."
Colossians 1:18: "And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."

3. "... thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. (Rev. 2:20)

Here the Old Testament Queen Jezebel is used as a type to illustrate corrupt teaching. Jezebel was a Zidonian. The gods of the Zidonians were the goddess Ashtoreth (1 Kings 11:5, 22; 2 Kings 23:13), and Baal (1 Kings 16:30-31). Ashtoreth, the moon goddess, was frequently associated with the name of Baal, the sun-god, their chief male deity (Judg. 10:6; 1 Sam. 7:4; 12:10). Ashtoreth was the Ishtar to the Accadians and the Astarte of the Greeks. She is the false goddest called, "the queen of heaven" (Jer. 7:18, 44:17-19, 25). Baal was known to the Israelites as Baal-peor (Num. 25:3; Deut. 4:3). He is identified with Molech (Jer. 19:5), and Molech is also called Moloch (Amos 5:26), Milcom (1 Kings 11:5), Chemosh (1 Kings 11:7), and Malcham (Zeph. 1:5). Baal, Molech and the other names are just aliases for Satan himself, "the god of this world" (2 Cor 4:4). Christ terms this doctrine of Jezebel as "the depths of Satan" (Rev. 2:24). God said, "... I will set my face against ... all that ... commit whoredom with Molech ..." (Lev 20:5) which shows that the primary meaning is spiritual fornication. When King Ahab "... took to wife Jezebel ... [he] went and served Baal, and worshipped him" (1 Kings 16:31). Satan's tactics have not changed.

Roman Catholicism is doing the same thing Balaam taught Balac to do, and the same thing Jezebel did to Ahab, Elijah and Israel:

        A. Jezebel persecuted God's man, Elijah, and sought his life as the Roman Catholic Church did in the Dark Ages to God's people and will one day soon do again to the saints of God during the Tribulation.

        B. Some saved both within and without Romanism have been fooled into committing spiritual fornication, and some are even fooled into partaking in that abominable Eucharist of Rome.

        C. The Roman Catholic Church "calleth herself a prophetess" in that it claims to speak for God on Earth.

        D. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Mary is the Queen of heaven and that she assists people in their salvation.

The Word of God teaches contrary to the above:

        A. The Lord allows "soul liberty" and does not approve of forced conversion, torture, and subversion.

Lamentations 3:34-36: "To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the earth, To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High, To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not."

        B. The Lord condemns spiritual fornication and idolatry.

Revelation 2:14: "But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication."
Revelation 2:20: "Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols."

        C. God finished speeking 2000 years ago, and His Word is complete.

Isaiah 42:8: "I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images."
Revelation 22:18-19: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

        D. There is but one Saviour, and it is not the queen of heaven.

1 Timothy 2:5-6: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time."
Isaiah 43:11: "I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour."
Isaiah 45:22: "Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else."
Jeremiah 7:18: "The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger."
Jeremiah 44:25, 27: "Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows. ... Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good ..." (cf. Jeremiah 44:17-19)

Note: When Christ comes to catch up His people to be with Him the unregenerated people of this apostate religion and the lost of other religions coming into communion with her who are alive at that time will go into the seven year Great Tribulation. In Revelation 2:21-23 the Lord Jesus said:

"... I gave her space to repent of her fornication;and she repented not. Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into Great Tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death ..."

This is why we still find "that woman Jezebel" towards the end of the Great Tribulation in Revelation 17, but under another name.

IDENTIFICATION OF THE WHORE OF THE TRIBULATION:

MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT (REVELATION 17:1-18):

"And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication. So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: And upon her forehead was a name written,

MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND
ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition. And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire. For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled. And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth."

ROMAN CATHOLIC TRADITION COMPARED WITH THE BIBLE:

The Catholic tradition is listed first, and then what the Bible has to say about the subject.

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary never had other children after the Lord Jesus. A perpetual virgin.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary and Joseph indeed had children. They were the Lord's half brothers and sisters for their father was Joseph and mother was Mary.

Mark 6:3: "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him." (cf. Matthew 13:55-56)

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the queen of heaven.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Worshipping the queen of heaven (which is not the Mary of the Bible) is worshipping another god and it provokes the Lord to anger.

"Jeremiah 7:17-19: "Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? 18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. 19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Mary is the mother of God.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Mary is the mother of the earthly Jesus, not God. Jesus pre- existed from everlasting as God (see John 1:1). When He came to redeem mankind, He laid aside His glory and was made like unto sinful man so that He could take our punishment (Hebrew 2:9). God has no mother. He has lived from everlasting which means He had no beginning.

Isaiah 43:10: "Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me." [If Mary gave birth to God, she'd be God.]

Psalm 93:2: "Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting."

Micah 5:2: "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler [Jesus] in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

Philippians 2:6-7: "Who [Jesus], being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men."

CATHOLIC TRADITION - The mass. Through transubstantiation, the wafer/host and the wine supposedly become the actual blood and body of Jesus Christ when the priest prays over them.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Jesus died once for sins, never to be repeated. He sits on the right hand of God and does not reappear in the mass as a mass of blood and flesh.

Hebrews 10:12-18: "But this man [Jesus], after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; 13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

John 19:30: "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."

1 Corinthians 11:24-26: "And when he [Jesus] had given thanks, he brake it [bread], and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come." [not for the forgiveness of sins or to receive Jesus]

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Saved, in part, by good works.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Good works are the fruits that grow out of being saved. They do not make you saved. An apple does not make its tree an apple tree, it was already an apple tree before any apples appeared. When you see the apples; however, you know what kind of tree it is. If a person is saved, he will shew forth good works because he has the spirit of Christ in him. The good works don't make him saved only the blood of Jesus can do that.

1 John 1:7: "... the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

Acts 16:31: "... believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved."

Romans 3:24-28: "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law."

What about James 2:20: "... faith without works is dead?"

The kind of faith that saves is a faith that shows forth the works of God. Even devils believe in Jesus and tremble (James 2:19). Many people believe in Jesus but they won't follow Him. They have a faith, but not the kind that saves. If a person has true faith in Jesus, the Holy Ghost dwells in him and will cause good works will show forth in his life (Ephesians 2:8-10). The good works confirm the faith by which the person was saved. James 2:21-23 uses Abraham as an example (Romans 4:3-5). Abraham believed God so when God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham, out of his faith in God, offered up Isaac.

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Call priests father, e.g., Father McKinley.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS:

Matthew 23:9: "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven."

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Forbidding the priesthood to marry.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS:

1) It is devilish to forbid God's people to marry when He has given marriage to be received with thanksgiving.

1 Timothy 4:1-3: "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."

2) Peter was married (remember the pope is supposedly continuing the apostolic line through Peter).

Matthew 8:14: "And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever."

Mark 1:30: "But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her."

Luke 4:38: "And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon's house. And Simon's wife's mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her."

3) Paul, a great apostle, remained single; however he made it very clear that he could marry if he wanted to.

1 Corinthians 9:5: "Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Pope called Holy Father.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - The term Holy Father is only found one time in the entire Bible. It was when Jesus prayed before He and His disciples went to the garden of Gethsemane. He referred to God the Father as Holy Father. It is blasphemy to call a man by God's name

John 17:11: "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are."

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Purgatory, nuns, popes.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - None of these is mentioned in the Bible. It is a sin to add to the Bible.

Proverbs 30:6: "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

The pope is a man who takes upon himself honor which belongs to no human being. Even the very name by which he allows himself to be called (Holy Father) is highly presumptuous and blasphemous (see above).

One does not need the pope to determine what God's will is. The Bible says that God has given the Holy Ghost to each believer and that He (the Holy Ghost) guides and leads us into all truth. All a believer needs is the Bible and the Holy Ghost to know the will of the Lord. Popery has been treacherous, but worse, each pope has been the blind leading the blind. Jesus said that both will fall into the ditch. Catholics, come out of this system that cannot save and know Jesus for youself, intimate and up-close.

NOTE: Purgatory is supposedly a place where a person is purified of sins--even popes supposedly go there. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the one that purifies us of our sins. Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.... When a person dies their eternal home is sealed--heaven or hell--no in between. Hebrews 9:27 says "... it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Venerating/worshipping images. Pope bows to statues of Mary, people worship the eucharist and have statues/candles in their homes and churches.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - It is idolatry to venerate images. We are not even supposed to make them.

Exodus 20:4-5: Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God ..."

CATHOLIC TRADITION - The church is founded on Peter.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - Jesus Christ is the foundation of the church. Peter was a man like you and me. Jesus called Peter "Satan" in Matthew 16:23 when Peter rebuked Jesus dying. When Cornelius tried to worship Peter, Peter responded, "Stand up; I myself also am a man" (Acts 10:26). The pope needs to remember Acts 10:26 when he has men bowing to him and kissing his hand like he is worthy of worship.

1 Corinthians 3:11: "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Matthew 21:42: "Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected [Jesus], the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

CATHOLIC TRADITION - Confessing sins to a priest. Petitioning saints and Mary.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS - We are to confess our sins and needs to God alone.

1 John 1:9: "If we confess our sins, he [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Matthew 6:9, 12: "After this manner ... pray ye: Our Father ... forgive us ..."

1 Timothy 2:5: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." [not Mary, not saints, not priests, not the pope]

1 John 2:1: "... And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."

There are many other Scriptures that could have been used here to testify against the doctrines of the Catholic religion. There are also many other doctrines of the Catholic religion which could have been refuted (e.g. the sacraments, receiving the Holy Ghost, salvation through the catholic religion, penance, rosary, etc.).

PRONOUNCMENTS OF ANATHEMA BY THE ROMAN CATHOLIC COUNCIL OF TRENT

THE WORD ANATHENMA:

The Greek word "anathema" is found six times in the New Testament, and is translated as such once. Elsewhere it is translated, "under a great curse" once, and "accursed" four times. The verses containing the word are found below:

Acts 23:14: "And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse [anathema], that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul."

Romans 9:3: "For I could wish that myself were accursed [anathema] from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh."

1 Corinthians 12:3: "Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed [anathema]: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost."

1 Corinthians 16:22: "If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha."

Galatians 1:8-9: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed [anathema]. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed [anathema]."

The Roman Catholic Council of Trent pronounced many anathemas upon sound Bible doctrines concerning salvation. By doing so this apostate church pronounced a curse upon it's own self.

STANISLAUS HOSIUS AND TRENT:

The Council of Trent was conviened to counter the Refermation. It is considered by Roman Catholicism to be one of it's most important councils. It convened in Trent between December 13, 1545 and December 4, 1563.

The Council met in a total of 25 sessions during 3 Periods under 3 popes:

Period One:
Session 1 through 8 was in Trent, Italy (1545-1547), and session 9 through 11 was in Bologna, Italy (1547) during the reign of Pope Paul III.

Period Two:
Session 12 through 16 was in Trent (1551-1552) during the reign of Pope Julius III.

Period Three:
Session 17 through 25 was in Trent (1559-1563) during the reign of Pope Pius IV.

Stanislaus Hosius (5 May 1504 - 5 August 1579) was a Polish Roman Catholic who became prince-bishop of Warmia, Poland in 1551. He was called to the Imperial seat at Vienna, Austria in 1558/1559, where he was to work on the reopening of the Council of Trent. For his "successful work" he was promoted to cardinal in 1561, and was one of five papal legates who presided over the third period of the Council of Trent from 1561 to 1563. He returned to Warmia in 1563.

Hosius' wrote a book, Verae, christianae catholicaeque doctrinae solida propugnatio, in 1558 which was translated into English in 1565 by Richard Shacklock and entitled, The Hatchet of Heresies. Portions of Hosius writings on the Donatists, Waldenses, Anabaptists, Lutherans, and Zwinglians whoes beliefs he condemned can be found in Shacklock's book.

TRENT'S PRONOUNCEMENTS OF ANATHEMA WITH GOD'S REFUTATIONS:

Here are some of the pronouncements of anathema upon Bible truths by Hosius and others of the Roman Catholic Council of Trent preceded by Scriptural refutations.

THE SCRIPTUERS

Revelation 22:18-19: "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

FOURTH SESSION: DECREE CONCERNING THE CANONICAL SCRIPTURES: "If anyone does not accept as sacred and canonical the aforesaid books in their entirety and with all their parts [the 66 books of the Bible plus 12 apocryphal books, being two of Paralipomenon, two of Esdras, Tobias, Judith, Wisdom, Ecclesiasticus, Baruch, Sophonias, two of Macabees], as they have been accustomed to be read in the Catholic Church and as they are contained in the old Latin Vulgate Edition, and knowingly and deliberately rejects the aforesaid traditions, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA."

JUSTIFICATION

Romans 3:23-28: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law."

Galatians 2:16: "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."

Romans 5:1: "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ."

SIXTH SESSION, CANONS CONCERNING JUSTIFICATION: "If anyone says that justifying faith is nothing else than confidence in divine mercy, which remits sins for Christ's sake, or that it is this confidence alone that justifies us, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons Concerning Justification, Canon 12).

SIXTH SESSION, CANONS CONCERNING JUSTIFICATION: "If anyone says that the justice received is not preserved and also not increased before God through good works, but that those works are merely the fruits and signs of justification obtained, but not the cause of its increase, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons Concerning Justification, Canon 24).

SIXTH SESSION, CANONS CONCERNING JUSTIFICATION: "If anyone says that the Catholic doctrine of justification as set forth by the holy council in the present decree, derogates in some respect from the glory of God or the merits of our Lord Jesus Christ, and does not rather illustrate the truth of our faith and no less the glory of God and of Christ Jesus, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons Concerning Justification, Canon 33).

BAPTISM

1 Peter 3:20-21: "... in the days of Noah ... few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

Matthew 3:13-16: "Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water ..."

Titus 3:5: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost."

SEVENTH SESSION, CANONS ON BAPTISM: "If anyone says that in the Roman Church, which is the mother and mistress of all churches, there is not the true doctrine concerning the sacrament of baptism, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on Baptism, Canon 3).

SEVENTH SESSION, CANONS ON BAPTISM: "If anyone says that baptism is optional, that is, not necessary for salvation, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on Baptism, Canon 5).

SEVENTH SESSION, CANONS ON BAPTISM: "If anyone says that children, because they have not the act of believing, are not after having received baptism to be numbered among the faithful, and that for this reason are to be rebaptized when they have reached the years of discretion; or that it is better that the baptism of such be omitted than that, while not believing by their own act, they should be baptized in the faith of the Church alone, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on Baptism, Canon 13).

CONFIRMATON

2 Timothy 3:15: "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

1 Corinthians 1:7-8: "So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

SEVENTH SESSION, CANONS ON CONFIRMATON: "If anyone says that the confirmation of those baptized is an empty ceremony and not a true and proper sacrament; or that of old it was nothing more than a sort of instruction, whereby those approaching adolescence gave an account of their faith to the Church, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on Confirmation, Canon 1).

THE LORD'S SUPPER

1 Corinthians 11:23-32: For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lordís death till he come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lordís body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world."

THIRTEENTH SESSION, CANONS ON THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT OF THE EUCHARIST: "If anyone denies that in the sacrament of the most Holy Eucharist are contained truly, really and substantially the body and blood together with the soul and divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ, and consequently the whole Christ, but says that He is in it only as in a sign, or figure or force, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, Canon 1).

THIRTEENTH SESSION, CANONS ON THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT OF THE EUCHARIST: "If anyone says that Christ received in the Eucharist is received spiritually only and not also sacramentally and really, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist, Canon 8).

TWENTY-SECOND SESSION, CANONS ON THE SACRIFICE OF THE MASS: "If anyone says that in the mass a true and real sacrifice is not offered to God; or that to be offered is nothing else than that Christ is given to us to eat, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Sacrifice of the Mass, Canon 1).

TWENTY-SECOND SESSION, CANONS ON THE SACRIFICE OF THE MASS: "If anyone says that by those words, Do this for a commemoration of me, Christ did not institute the Apostles priests; or did not ordain that they and other priests should offer His own body and blood, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Sacrifice of the Mass, Canon 2).

TWENTY-SECOND SESSION, CANONS ON THE SACRIFICE OF THE MASS: "If anyone says that the sacrifice of the mass is one only of praise and thanksgiving; or that it is a mere commemoration of the sacrifice consummated on the cross but not a propitiatory one; or that it profits him only who receives, and ought not to be offered for the living and the dead, for sins, punishments, satisfactions, and other necessities, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Sacrifice of the Mass, Canon 3).

TWENTY-SECOND SESSION, CANONS ON THE SACRIFICE OF THE MASS: "If anyone says that it is a deception to celebrate masses in honor of the saints and in order to obtain their intercession with God, as the Church intends, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Sacrifice of the Mass, Canon 5).

TWENTY-THIRD SESSION, CANONS ON THE SACRAMENT OF ORDER: "If anyone says that there is not in the New Testament a visible and external priesthood, or that there is no power of consecrating and offering the true body and blood of the Lord and of forgiving and retaining sins, but only the office and bare ministry of preaching the Gospel; or that those who do not preach are not priests at all, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Sacrifice of the Mass, Canon 1).

TWENTY-THIRD SESSION, CANONS ON THE SACRAMENT OF ORDER: "If anyone says that the bishops who are chosen by the authority of the Roman pontiff are not true and legitimate bishops, but merely human deception, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons on the Sacrifice of the Mass, Canon 8).

PENTENCE

FOURTEENTH SESSION, CANONS CONCERNING THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT OF PENANCE: "If anyone says that in the Catholic Church penance is not truly and properly a sacrament instituted by Christ the Lord for reconciling the faithful of God as often as they fall into sin after baptism, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons Concerning the Most Holy Sacrament of Penance, Canon 1).

FOURTEENTH SESSION, CANONS CONCERNING THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT OF PENANCE: "If anyone denies that sacramental confession was instituted by divine law or is necessary to salvation; or says that the manner of confessing secretly to a priest alone, which the Catholic Church has always observed from the beginning and still observes, is at variance with the institution and command of Christ and is a human contrivance, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons Concerning the Most Holy Sacrament of Penance, Canon 7).

FOURTEENTH SESSION, CANONS CONCERNING THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT OF PENANCE: "If anyone says that the confession of all sins as it is observed in the Church is impossible and is a human tradition to be abolished by pious people; or that each and all of the faithful of Christ or either sex are not bound thereto once a year in accordance with the constitution of the great Lateran Council, and that for this reason the faithful of Christ are to be persuaded not to confess during Lent, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons Concerning the Most Holy Sacrament of Penance, Canon 8).

FOURTEENTH SESSION, CANONS CONCERNING THE MOST HOLY SACRAMENT OF PENANCE: "If anyone says that God always pardons the whole penalty together with the guilt and that the satisfaction of penitents is nothing else than the faith by which they perceive that Christ has satisfied for them, LET HIM BE ANATHEMA" (Canons Concerning the Most Holy Sacrament of Penance, Canon 8).

PURGATORY

Hebrews 1:3: "[Jesus Christ] being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had BY HIMSELF PURGED OUR SINS, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high."

TWENTY-FIFTH SESSION, DECREE ON PURGATORY: "Since the Catholic Church, instructed by the Holy Ghost, has, following the sacred writings and the ancient tradition of the Fathers, taught in sacred councils and very recently in this ecumenical council that there is a purgatory, and that the souls there detained are aided by the suffrages of the faithful and chiefly by the acceptable sacrifice of the altar, the holy council commands the bishops that they strive diligently to the end that the sound doctrine of purgatory, transmitted by the Fathers and sacred councils, be believed and maintained by the faithful of Christ, and be everywhere taught and preached."

IDOLATRY

Exodus 20:5-6: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments."

Numbers 33:52: "Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places."

1 Thessalonians 1:9: "For ... ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."

1 John 5:21: "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen."

TWENTY-FIFTH SESSION, ON THE INVOCATION, VENERATION, AND RELICS OF SAINTS, AND ON SACRED IMAGES: "The holy council commands all bishops and others who hold the office of teaching and have charge of the cura animarum, that in accordance with the usage of the Catholic and Apostolic Church, received from the primitive times of the Christian religion, and with the unanimous teaching of the holy Fathers and the decrees of sacred councils, they above all instruct the faithful diligently in matters relating to intercession and invocation of the saints, the veneration of relics, and the legitimate use of images, teaching them that the saints who reign together with Christ offer up their prayers to God for men, that it is good and beneficial suppliantly to invoke them and to have recourse to their prayers, assistance and support in order to obtain favors from God through His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is our redeemer and savior; and that they think impiously who deny that the saints who enjoy eternal happiness in heaven are to be invoked, or who assert that they do not pray for men, or that our invocation of them to pray for each of us individually is idolatry, or that it is opposed to the word of God and inconsistent with the honor of the one mediator of God and men, Jesus Christ, or that it is foolish to pray vocally or mentally to those who reign in heaven."

IS THERE AN ANTICHRIST IN THE VATICAN ?

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." (1 John 2:18)

As we shall see all popes, by definition, are "antichrists," because they have presumed themselves to "hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty" (Pope Leo XIII) just as Lucifer presumes that he "will be like the most High" (Isaiah 14:14). However, the end time Antichrist, or the 1st beast, of Revelation 13 is a political/military leader (Rev. 13:1-8), not a religious leader. The 2nd beast of Revelation 13 will be the final Pope. This 2nd beast with "two horns like a lamb" (Rev. 13:11) is "the false prophet" (Rev. 16:13, 19:20, 20:10) who directs people's worship toward the 1st beast, the Antichrist. Therefore, the answer to our question, "Is there an antichrist in the Vatican," is, YES, but he will not be THE Antichrist.

"I am able to do almost all that God can do. What therefore, can you make of me but God? " --POPE BONIFACE VIII, BULL UNUN SANCTUM, 1302

"...the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." -- 2 Thessalonians 2:2-4

"...and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is." -- Revelation 17:8

CONCLUSION

The following is from documentation of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965):

"... In Hinduism men explore the divine mystery and express it both in the limitless riches of myth and the accurately defined insights of philosophy. They seek release from the trials of the present life by ascetical practices, profound meditation and recourse to God in confidence and love. Buddhism in its various forms testifies to the essential inadequacy of this changing world. It proposes a way of life by which man can, with confidence and trust, attain a state of perfect liberation and reach supreme illumination either through their own efforts or by the aid of divine help. ... The Catholic Church rejects nothing of what is true and holy in these religions. "

Jesuit priest William Johnston explains how it happened, "... Overnight the Catholic Church which had been a Western institution exporting its wares to the East became a world community. Asian and African bishops and theologians assembled in Rome and, with their European and American confreres, acknowledged that the Spirit of God is at work in all peoples and in all religions. Since then, most theologians recognize non-Christian religions as valid ways."

The Gnostic nature of Catholicism is seen not only from its history, but also in the fact that it adapts to and assimilates pagan and eastern religions so easily. For example to the right we see Pope John Paul II receiving the Mark of the Hindu goddess Durga, the consort of the god Shiva. By the time this photo was taken, however, the pope had already been involved in several pagan rituals on his 1986 trip to India. Three days prior to the taking this photo in Madras, India on February 5, 1986, the Pope had also taken the Mark of Shiva on his forehead. It is the red mark seen on the foreheads of so many Hindus signifying their devotion to Shiva. Here we see the two horns of the second beast on Revelation 13. The horns signifying seats of power. The powers being Catholicism and the New Age movement. The Vatican's goal of ecumenicalism is seen in her efforts to unite all the religions under her wing.

On October 27, 1986 and again on January 24, 2002 Pope John Paul II hosted first 160 and then 200 shamans, animists, imams, witch doctors, patriarchs, monks and rabbis from around the world for a prayer summit at Assisi, Italy. The world's religious leaders including the Dalai Lama (considered by many Buddhists to be a god), Islamic Mullahs from nine countries, Hindus, Zoroastrians, native American shamans, African animists, Jews, Catholics and Protestants assembled together to pray for world peace. Pope John Paul II declared, "We will stand side by side asking God to give us peace." Pope John Paul II has demonstrated broad ecumenical support by publicly hosting these religious leaders from all over the world, and has also done so in many books, seminars, on the Internet and by official sanction. Popedom has set an ecumenical agenda, which the world loves and accepts.

With New Age and ecumenical beliefs being advocated not only by Roman Catholics, but also by "Evangelicals," like Billy Graham, Rick Warren, Kenneth Copeland, Paul Crouch and Joel Osteen, it appears that the desired goal of a one world religion is close to being achieved. The New Age aspiration to establish a one world religion lead by a "Christ Leader" is being met by the Pope and his Church.

All of this ought not to surprise any true Bible believer who trusts in Christ Jesus, for the Bible has warned us of the end time Apostate Church system and her daughter harlots (Rev. 17). Christians cannot remain silent in the face of this apostasy. A further watering down of God's Word will continue to accommodate the unbelievers of the various New Age and other religions.

"We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not." (2 Peter 1:19 - 2:3)

"Beloved, ... ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints." (Jude 3)

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 2:5) "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)

Galatians 4:16: Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
